Health Ministry reveals reasons behind spread of respiratory diseases 

The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population in Egypt, Hossam Abdel Ghaffar explained that November to March commonly sees an increase in respiratory system viruses, especially among those with chronic diseases and the elderly.

During an interview with Ahmed Moussa’s TV show “Ala Massoulity” (On My Responsibility) on Tuesday, Abdel-Ghaffar strongly advised adhering to preventive measures to confront colds, such as taking the influenza vaccine and making sure to be in well-ventilated places.

    Abdel-Ghaffar added that there are new variants of coronavirus emerging globally, but the common flu is currently the most prevalent in Egypt.

    He assured ministry has a strong monitoring system to monitor all respiratory diseases.

    The World Health Organization still considers the coronavirus a global emergency, he warned, and recommended avoiding crowded or closed places.

    Abdel-Ghaffar noted that the state has allocated about one trillion pounds over the past ten years to support health projects.

    He pointed to the presidential initiatives launched by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi to improve citizens’ health and follow up on it continuously.
