The completed projects are: the last section of the Changping Line’s southern extension, a connection between Dongsishitiao and Dongba North on Line 12 and a link between Sijiqingqiao and Dongba North.
The 43km of new lines add east–west routes into central Beijing and north–south connections with Anzhen, Dongba and Madian.
Wu Yulan, a deputy director at the Beijing Municipal Commission of Transport, is quoted by China Daily as saying: “The newly opened subway lines are crucial for easing traffic congestion in the city’s central area and supporting the development of places along their routes.”
