Craig Melvin made fans' day—and maybe even their "whole week"—with a recent reenactment from an iconic holiday film, and people are calling his impromptu performance "gold."
In a new social media video, the Today show star tested out his acting chops by trying his hand at a scene from the hit 2003-released Christmas movie, Elf.

The social media clip—which was filmed between takes on set of the news broadcast program, and uploaded in a joint post to both the official accounts of Today and Melvin on Tuesday, Dec. 17—featured the broadcaster along with stage manager, Yosef Herzog.
"OK, people, tomorrow morning, 10 AM, Santa's coming to town," Herzog nonchalantly mouthed over a voiceover from the movie. In response to the announcement, Melvin can be seen excitedly exclaiming, "Santaaaaa! Oh, my God!" as he emphatically yelled into the camera—mimicking the hilarious scene in the film.
"Craig is REALLY bringing the Christmas cheer. ??," the video was captioned.
The original family comedy starred Will Ferrell and became an instant hit in the category of must-see holiday flicks, and from the looks of it, Melvin didn't disappoint with his personal take on it.

Fans poured into the comments section of the Instagram snippet, raving over the funny holiday content.

It was recently revealed that Melvin will step up in place of Hoda Kotb after she exits the program in January 2025.
