CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A 28-year-old man has been charged with murder for a November homicide at a northeast Charlotte apartment complex, according to court documents.
Records show Marquell Dashon Pettiford, 28, was booked into the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office on Friday, Dec. 13. He's charged with first-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Officials say Pettiford shot and killed 29-year-old Anthony Zellars around 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 19, in the 400 block of West Arrowhead Drive.
Arrest records show Pettiford is also in custody for probation violation in July of 2022.
