Egyptian Ambassador in Monrovia Ahmed Abdel Azim said Cairo was keen to provide support to the state institutions in Liberia, topped by the Supreme Constitutional Court.
The diplomat’s remarks were made during his meeting with Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia Sie-A-Nyene Yuoh.
The two sides discussed means to boost bilateral cooperation and exchange experiences regarding visions and viewpoints in the constitutional principles of both the Egyptian and Liberian constitutional courts.
Ambassador Abdel Azim stressed the importance of judicial and constitutional cooperation between African countries and promoting the role of the African judiciary in protecting human rights and freedoms, and building effective and independent judicial institutions.
Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Liberia expressed her deep appreciation of the Egyptian state’s role in building the capabilities of Liberian cadres.
She also expressed her interest in benefiting from the training courses provided by Egypt in the fields of administration and digitization with the aim of honing the skills of the court’s cadres and judges.
She added that Egypt will host the eighth high-level meeting of the chiefs of the African Supreme Constitutional Courts, set for January 27 and 28, 2025.
