The Military Operations Administration of the Syrian opposition forces - led by Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham (HTS) - granted amnesty to all military personnel conscripted into service in the Syrian armed forces under the Assad regime on Monday. In a statement issued a day after the toppling of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, the body declared the amnesty and said that the lives of soldiers would be safe and that soldiers must not be attacked. The decision came after hundreds of conscripts and soldiers in former regime forces surrendered during recent battles with opposition forces, or were captured while attempting to flee from battles and military barracks.
