(KRON) – A bicyclist is in critical condition after a hit-and-run involving a suspected intoxicated driver in Hayward, according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday. According to CHP, a bicyclist was traveling on Lewelling at Hesperian when a red Hyundai Elantra crashed into him and then fled the scene. The victim was taken to a local trauma hospital where he remains in critical condition. Chick-fil-A chickens out of Campbell Officers from the Hayward Police Department located the Elantra and attempted to pull the car over. The driver then stopped and began to flee on foot, but was detained shortly after, according to CHP.
