MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Mecklenburg County commissioners are allocating more than $5 million in opioid settlement funds to help tackle the crisis. The county is set to get about $74 million over the next 18 years. This second wave of money totals $5.5 million. County leaders are breaking it up into four categories, which they hope will help people struggling with opioid abuse and addiction. "Doing nothing is just not an option," said Commissioners Chair Mark Jerrell.
