This week’s Hometown Hero, presented by Hendrick Southpoint, is Jennifer Thompson. After Thompson was sexually assaulted in college and the wrong man was accused in the crime, Thompson and the wrongfully accused man founded Healing Justice. They teamed up going across the state and the country to educate people on the harms of wrongful conviction and how to avoid it. Now Healing Justice has reach across the country, working with both victims of sexual violence and those wrongfully accused. They have successfully lobbied for changes in the criminal justice system to prevent wrongful convictions.
