CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- There's a new light rail station and pedestrian crossing coming to South End. Construction of the stop near Hawkins and Rampart Streets will begin in the next couple of years. It's a very heavily traveled area with dozens of apartment buildings and popular bars and restaurants nearby. The closest light rail stops are at least a 10-minute walk in either direction. That's why a new one is in the works. "Ever since I moved here I was like there needs to be a train stop here," said Riley Wester, who lives in South End.
