Brentford vs Ipswich Preview, Prediction, Predicted Lineups

The upcoming match between Brentford and Ipswich promises to be an intriguing encounter, showcasing two teams with varying ambitions within the English football hierarchy. Brentford, currently competing in the Premier League, aims to solidify its position among the top-tier clubs, while Ipswich is striving for promotion from the Championship. The contrasting objectives of these teams will undoubtedly shape their strategies and performances on the pitch.

They have so far faced Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham and Manchester United on the road – a tough run to say the least having yielded zero points – but their unbeaten start at the Gtech has been a saving grace.

As for Saturday’s opponents Ipswich, they have so far shown real potential of a side who could well endure the hardship of promotion to the Premier League.

They are, however, lingering on the edge of the relegation zone having failed to register a single win so far.

It isn’t all doom and gloom however – in fact, quite the opposite. The Tractor Boys went unbeaten at the end of October right the way through to September – a run of four games.

Ipswich Town, on the other hand, are coming off a challenging period. They suffered a heavy 4-1 defeat away to West Ham before the international break and followed it up with a 2-0 loss at home against Everton last weekend. These setbacks have left Kieran McKenna's team perilously close to the relegation zone, just one place and one point above it.

As Ipswich travel to the capital, they face the task of overcoming their recent struggles and climbing away from danger. Meanwhile, Brentford will be determined to exploit their visitors' vulnerabilities and continue their solid home form.

Brentford XI (4-2-3-1): Flekken; Van den Berg, Collinks, Pinnock, Ajer; Janelt, Norgaard; Wissa, Damsgaard, Lewis-Potter; Mbeumo

Ipswich XI (4-2-3-1): Muric; Burgess, O’Shea, Woolfenden, Davis; Morsy, Phillips; Hutchinson, Szmodics, Clarke; Delap

The market for this fixture is quite rightly expecting a fifth defeat for Ed Sheeran’s club with their most recent defeat at home to Everton painting a bleak picture for their prospects going forward.

While they had no problems generating shots (13), they forced just two saves from Jordan Pickford and Brentford should have the firepower to pick up all three points and outscore their opponents.
