What is a fire weather watch?
(KRON) – The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather watch for the Bay Area from Thursday to Saturday.   A fire weather watch is when a combination of dry fuels and critical weather conditions support extreme fire danger, according to NWS. Critical weather conditions include warm temperatures, low humidity and strong gusty winds. The weather service forecasts 20 to 30 mph offshore winds with gusts to 40 mph. Per NWS, isolated gusts could reach 50 mph across the highest terrain and ridgetops in tandem and the daytime relative humidity as low as 15%.  This warning has now been issued to all Bay Area counties.
