Road Races to Affect Traffic in Downtown Hillsborough This Weekend

Road races on Saturday, October 5 and Sunday, October 6 are expected to delay traffic in downtown Hillsborough. Both races are expected to draw more than 800 participants each. On Saturday, the Tarwheels Bike Fest will begin between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m. downtown. A police officer will be on site to intermittently stop traffic at the intersection of South Churton Street and East Margaret Lane as groups begin the race. The cyclists will ride through rural Orange and adjacent counties before returning to Hillsborough around 4 p.m. The starting line will be on East Margaret Lane at South Cameron Street, and riders will head west.
