August 22, 2024 (KAUDA) – The civil authority of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N) led by Abdel Aziz al-Hilu reported on Thursday 109 deaths from malnutrition across four counties in the Nuba Mountains and South Kordofan regions. The SPLM-N declared a famine in areas under its control in South Kordofan and Blue Nile on Aug. 13. These regions are home to an estimated three million people. Arno Ngutulu Lodi, First Secretary of the Civil Authority, told Reuters that the deaths occurred in Heiban (27), Rashad (62), Lagawa (11), and Um Dorein (9) counties.
