Attles, a former head coach with the team, first joined the Philadelphia Warriors in 1960 as the club's fifth-round draft choice. He has been affiliated with the franchise ever since. Attles spent an 11-year playing career with the Warriors, spending his final two years as player/coach. In a 13-year coaching career with the team, he registered the most wins by a head coach in franchise history. He famously guided the team to its first championship on the West Coast, engineering a 4-0 series sweep over the Washington Bullets in the 1975 NBA Finals.
