Leadership Opportunity Smith County was founded in 1998. The program was designed to empower and motivate participants to develop their leadership style for the continued enhancement of Smith County. Over 200 students completed the program since initiated by the Adult Leadership group in 2000. Students participate in an orientation and six one-day sessions, community service opportunities and recognition at the Annual Chamber of Commerce Banquet for completing the class. The one-day sessions are during the school day and are excused “school/community related” absences. Additionally, there is SCHOLARSHIP money available.
