MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- On Friday, Mecklenburg County officials announced draft legislation, that if passed, could bring in revenue to help fund transit projects. Managers with the Mecklenburg County government, the City of Charlotte, and five towns within the county, Cornelius, Davidson, Huntersville, Mint Hill, and Pineville worked together on this draft legislation following several meetings. The draft legislation would enable a countywide referendum on a 1 percent local sales tax to fund mobility initiatives across Mecklenburg County, and the ability to establish a regional transit authority, officials with Mecklenburg County announced on Friday.
