Huma Abedin and Alex Soros Plan to Marry

There has been much speculation surrounding the rumored engagement between Huma Abedin and Alex Soros, two prominent figures in politics and philanthropy. Abedin, a longtime aide to Hillary Clinton, has been at the center of political controversy for years, while Soros, the son of billionaire investor George Soros, is known for his activism and charitable contributions.

Despite their differing backgrounds and connections, Abedin and Soros have reportedly been dating for several years and are now planning to tie the knot. This union has sparked interest and debate among their peers in both political and social circles.

Newly engaged Huma Abedin flashed her stunning diamond ring from billionaire Alex Soros while going out in New York City Wednesday.

In exclusive photos obtained by Page Six, the political insider was spotted heading into an Upper West Side restaurant wearing an orange midi dress that accentuated her slim figure.

They also seem poised to become a serious political power couple: In June 2023, Soros took over his father George Soros’s $25 billion empire, which includes OSF, Soros Fund Management, and a super-PAC. He told The Wall Street Journal at the time that he will use his platform to both back Democratic politicians and fight for voting and abortion rights. (“I’m more political,” Alex said of his views as compared to his father’s.) Abedin, meanwhile, worked for Hillary Clinton from 1996 to 2016, rising from an intern to the vice-chairperson for Clinton’s 2016 campaign for president.

Alex Soros is the chair of Open Society Foundations, which his father founded and once controlled. The elder Soros has been at the heart of right-wing conspiracy theories for years, facing accusations, including one recently from Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), that he has funded groups involved in pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses.

Abedin started her career in Washington as a White House intern in the first lady’s office, later working alongside Clinton in the Senate, State Department and on campaign trail. 

Abedin was formerly married to ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner (D-N.Y.) and stayed by his side as he faced numerous scandals, but she filed for divorce from him in the wake of the FBI finding her emails on Weiner’s laptop, resulting in then-FBI Director James Comey reopening an investigation into Clinton’s emails shortly prior to the 2020 presidential election.

Abedin remains close with Clinton, having worked with her for over a decade as an intern and later rising to become the vice-chairperson for Clinton’s 2016 presidential campaign.
