July 4, 2024 ( KHARTOUM) –  More than 136,000 people have fled Sudan’s Sennar state since the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces began a series of attacks on towns, the UN said on Wednesday. This is the latest wave of displacements means they now join more than 8 million people already out of their homes since war broke out between the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese army in April 2023. Aid agencies warned of famine, mainly in RSF-controlled areas across Sudan. The RSF began a campaign on 24 June to seize the city of Sennar, but quickly turned to the smaller towns of Sinjah and Al-Dinder.
