June 26, 2024 (ABYEI) – The United Nations Interim Security Force for Abyei (UNISFA) has said it is investigating an incident in which a 16-year-old male was killed and another injured at one of its camps on June 23, 2024. This, UNISFA said in a statement on Tuesday, followed an alleged intrusion attempt which occurred at one of the UNISFA camps in Abyei in the early hours of Sunday. The deceased and three others are accused of illegally and forcefully breaching the security perimeter of the UN facility.
