At approximately 8:57 a.m. CST on June 25, 2024 a single-engine airplane made an emergency landing near the Jackson County/Smith County line. The aircraft was traveling to Ohio from Murfreesboro, Tennessee when it experienced engine problems. A flight emergency was declared to the Memphis air traffic control tower prompting them to subsequently contact Jackson County 911. Jackson, Smith, and Macon County public safety personnel were quickly dispatched to the area in an attempt to locate. Jackson County 911 dispatchers were able to use GPS coordinates to locate the aircraft’s approximate location. The aircraft was located by Jackson County personnel in the vicinity of the Jackson/Smi
