GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Alachua County announces a new roadway improvement project has begun. The project looks to repave a 1.7-mile stretch along Northwest 23rd Avenue, east of Interstate 75. The renovation will cost $9.4 million. The project is scheduled to be complete in January 2025, but it will depend on the weather. Majority of the work will be done during the night to minimize the impact on daytime traffic. The road will be completely resurfaced, and stormwater drainage will be added.
