The victim, a 46-year-old man, remains hospitalized. Injuries to his torso, left arm and hand are considered significant but not life-threatening. The 48-hour beach closure from 6th Street to North Beach followed guidelines set by the California Marine Safety Chiefs Association and the Shark Lab at California State University Long Beach.
