Despite repeated calls for a ceasefire and return to negotiations, the council expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict around El Fasher, North Darfur. The PSC reiterated the urgent appeal by the Chairperson of the AU Commission for the warring parties to reinstate the local truce that had previously spared El Fasher from major fighting and to lift the current siege on the city, which has led to increased suffering and atrocities against civilians.
