Recent rumors have surfaced regarding the relationship status of Hollywood power couple Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. Speculation has been circulating that the pair did not celebrate Mother's Day together, leading to speculation about a potential breakup.
Despite their highly publicized reunion after nearly two decades apart, sources close to the couple have suggested that there may be trouble in paradise. Reports indicate that Lopez spent Mother's Day with her children from her previous marriage, while Affleck was notably absent from the festivities.
Lopez, 54, and Affleck, 51, have been residing apart from each other since Lopez returned to Los Angeles from New York City. She had been busy in New York City filming her movie Kiss of the Spider Woman, promoting her next movie Atlas, and co-chairing the 2024 Met Gala, which Affleck went absent from.
Affleck, meanwhile, has been filming a sequel to his 2016 movie The Accountant in Los Angeles in recent weeks and was most recently seen solo at Netflix’s May 5 live Roast of Tom Brady.
Lopez, who shares her 16-year-old twins Max and Emme with ex-husband Marc Anthony, shared two Instagram posts on Mother's Day noting her relationship with her kids and her own mom Guadalupe “Lupe” Rodríguez.
Lopez added that the split "sent me on a spiral for the next 18 years where I just couldn't get it right. But now, 20 years later, it does have a happy ending. It has the most 'would never happen in Hollywood' ending."
Though the duo was elated at their reconciliation, they did admit to having different perspectives on life in the public eye.
Reflecting on their early 2000s relationship in Lopez's "The Greatest Love Story Never Told" documentary, Affleck noted, "Getting back together, I said, 'Listen, one of the things I don't want is a relationship on social media.' And then I sort of realized it's not a fair thing to ask."
"It's sort of like you're gonna marry a boat captain and you go, 'Well, I don't like the water,'" he explained. "We're just two people with kind of different approaches trying to learn to compromise."
E! News has reached out to Lopez and Affleck's reps but has not received comment.
Lopez and Affleck rekindled their romance in early 2021 following her breakup with former New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez. Lopez announced her engagement to Affleck in April 2022, 20 years after they were first engaged in 2002 before their split in 2004. They tied the knot in July 2022 during an intimate Las Vegas ceremony. The couple hosted a second wedding ceremony at Affleck’s home in Georgia one month later.
