On a brisk Saturday afternoon, Fulham faced off against Manchester City in a highly anticipated Premier League match. The game started off with both teams showing great determination and skill, but it was Manchester City who quickly took control of the game.
With their swift passing and clinical finishing, Manchester City managed to score four goals within the first half. Fulham's defense struggled to contain the attacking prowess of their opponents, leaving them vulnerable to counterattacks.
Pep Guardiola's men have been in ominous form in the closing stages of the campaign and come into this fixture off the back of thrashing Wolves 5-1.
Firmly ensconced in midtable, the hosts have little to play for, with footage of players flying kites in training raising question marks from Arsenal fans over how motivated the Cottagers appear to be for what remains a key match in the race for the title.
There was no twist in the title race at Craven Cottage as defender Josko Gvardiol continued his hot streak in front of goal.
The Croatian settled any City nerves by firing in on his weaker right foot after just 13 minutes.
Pep Guardiola's men were dominant but had to wait until the hour to make the points safe when Phil Foden swept in his 25th goal of the season.
Gvardiol then turned in Bernardo Silva's cross at the back post for his fifth City goal, all of which have come in his past seven games.
Julian Alvarez added a fourth in the sixth minute of stoppage time from the penalty spot after he was fouled by Issa Diop, who received a second yellow card for the challenge.
City climbed two points above Arsenal, which plays at Manchester United on Sunday in the first of its remaining two games.
By the end, the Fulham fans were so demoralised by City's relentlessness that when the board went up to show seven minutes of stoppage time, there were loud groans from the stands. They wanted it over as quickly as possible, and after an exercise of ruthless efficiency from Guardiola's team, who could blame them? They were right to want a speedy conclusion, and in the 96th minute, substitute Julián Álvarez was brought down in the area by Diop -- who was shown a second yellow card and sent off -- then tucked away the penalty.
