Thunder win 113-112 over Knicks

In a thrilling and intense matchup, the Oklahoma City Thunder emerged victorious over the New York Knicks with a final score of 113-112. The game was a back-and-forth battle from start to finish, with both teams trading baskets and playing stifling defense. The Thunder were led by their star player, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who poured in 32 points and dished out 10 assists. The Knicks put up a valiant effort, with Julius Randle leading the charge with 29 points and 12 rebounds. However, it was not enough to overcome the offensive firepower of the Thunder.

Josh Giddey had 16 points, 13 rebounds and 12 assists for Oklahoma City, which moved back into sole possession of first place in the Western Conference at 52-22 with its second straight win.

“Great accomplishment for the organization,” Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said. “I couldn't be happier for the team and for the organization. And now we've got to continue to sharpen our blade down the stretch here (to) prepare ourselves.”

In a season filled with several moments to remember, last night had one of the greatest. Not only did Gilgeous-Alexander make a defining play of his incredible campaign, but the likes of Jalen Williams and Josh Giddey displayed exceptional basketball on the Madison Square Garden stage.

As if the win couldn't get any sweeter, it also brought Oklahoma City right back up to the sole possession of the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.

Brunson scored 30 points but missed a potential game-winner in the waning seconds for the second straight game. He missed a 3-pointer with five seconds remaining in Friday night’s 130-126 overtime loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

Josh Hart (13 points, 15 rebounds) and Isaiah Hartenstein (17 points, 12 rebounds) each recorded a double-double while McBride had 19 points. DiVincenzo added 15 points for the Knicks (44-30), who missed a chance to move into third place in the Eastern Conference. The Cleveland Cavaliers (45-30) fell to the Denver Nuggets, 130-101, earlier Sunday.

Every Knicks milestone so far is a result of hard work and dedication from each player understanding their roles on the team and what’s expected of them. Playing through fatigue can result in more injuries and will be a detriment to the Knicks’ playoff aspirations.

The New York Knicks will find a way to propel to victory during the last few games of the season and eventually to the first-round of the playoffs. Until then, all the players need to remain sharp and ready to play.
