A man was stopped from hanging himself off the Perkins Street Bridge over the Russian River in Ukiah on Monday, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported. According to the MCSO, a sergeant was patrolling in the area of Vichy Springs and Watson roads west of the city of Ukiah and stopped at the vehicle turnout near the Perkins Street Bridge around 10:50 a.m. March 25. While stopped there, the sergeant reportedly saw a man “tying a bright-colored rope onto the railing of the bridge (then placing) the other end of the rope over his head and around his neck.” As the sergeant “was exiting his vehicle, the subject had one foot over the railing and his upper body was also leaning over the rail
