Chelsea win over Leicester to reach FA Cup semifinals

On a rainy Sunday afternoon at the King Power Stadium, Chelsea emerged victorious over Leicester City in a thrilling FA Cup quarterfinal match. The Blues put on a dominant display of skill and determination, with Hakim Ziyech scoring the winning goal in the 63rd minute. This victory secured Chelsea's spot in the semifinals of the prestigious tournament.

The match was a true test of strength and strategy, with both teams fighting fiercely for every opportunity to score. Chelsea's defense held strong against Leicester's relentless attacks, while their offense capitalized on key moments to secure the win.

Mauricio Pochettino's men looked to be cruising into the last four at the interval, Cole Palmer converting just before the break to double a 13th minute lead when Marc Cucurella converted a Nicolas Jackson cross at the back post. The lead might have been even greater at the break had Raheem Sterling not drilled a penalty into the boots of Jakub Stolarczyk, the latest frustrating low in what has been a demoralizing time in west London for the one-time England international. However, the Blues have not kept a clean sheet since January 26 and Championship leaders Leicester only ever looked one pass away from testing the nervy Robert Sanchez.

The fixture is a repeat of the 2021 Champions League final that the west London club won 1-0 in Porto.

Sunday's semifinal draw keeps alive the prospect of a Manchester derby in April's final with Pep Guardiola's team still on course for an unprecedented consecutive treble.

The semifinals are due to be played on April 20-21 at Wembley Stadium.

Standing in the way of a place in the final of the world’s oldest domestic club competition is Manchester City, who defeated Newcastle United to reach the last four and are the current holders.

The other semi-final sees Manchester United meet Coventry City.

Further details on this fixture will be announced in due course, including ticket information and allocation for Wembley.

Tickets will be sold to season ticket holders first then members subject to availability and sold on a loyalty point basis.

Overall, it was a well-deserved victory for Chelsea, who now look ahead to the semifinals with confidence and determination. Their performance against Leicester showcased their talent and resilience, proving that they are a force to be reckoned with in this year's FA Cup competition.
