100 years ago in 1924: A large number of students entered the elimination contest to decide on the team which would go to Columbus to enter the State Memory Music Contest. In the city and exempted village contests, the team from North Avenue School in Girard won the distinction of having the perfect score. This team was to go to Columbus to represent this class for Trumbull County. The team from Dickey Avenue School in Warren claimed second place. In running off the eliminations for the enlarged teams in the elementary class a tie existed between two students with a score of 50 points.
