UFC 299: Sean OMalley vs. Marlon Vera

The highly anticipated UFC 299 fight between Sean O'Malley and Marlon Vera did not disappoint fans as they witnessed a thrilling battle between two skilled fighters. O'Malley, known for his flashy striking and unorthodox style, came into the octagon with confidence and precision. However, Vera proved to be a tough opponent, showcasing his own impressive striking abilities and grappling skills.

The fight was intense from the start, with both fighters exchanging heavy blows and showing incredible resilience. O'Malley managed to land some clean shots early on, but Vera quickly adjusted his game plan and started to control the pace of the fight. In the end, it was Vera who emerged victorious with a TKO victory in the second round.

Bantamweights Petr Yan and Song Yadong opened the main card in style before Jack Della Maddalena made a statement, Michael “Venom” Page impressed in his debut, and Dustin Poirier reminded everyone why he’s been a fixture in the lightweight title picture for the last five years. And then, in the main event, bitter rivals Sean O’Malley and Marlon “Chito” Vera settled their differences with the bantamweight title hanging in the balance.

Bantamweight champ and rising "it" guy Sean O'Malley defended the title he won last summer, and the man he met just happened to be Ecuadorian favorite Marlon "Chito" Vera, who handed O'Malley his only pro loss when they met five years ago at UFC 252.

"Suga" Sean was 5-0 with 4 KOs since the lone competitive blemish while Vera was 5-2 over the same stretch and arrived after a scorecard defeat of Pedro Munhoz at UFC 292.

Each of the other fights on the main show had at least one ranked contender, including the co-main that matched octagonal stalwart and No. 3 lightweight Dustin Poirier with 12th-ranked Benoit Saint Denis, who had won five straight since losing his UFC debut in 2021.

Jedrzejczyk retired from the sport in 2022 following back-to-back losses to current strawweight champion Zhang Weili. She was revered as one of the UFC's fiercest competitors regardless of gender. She had a reputation of intimidating opponents during her title reign, until she surrendered the belt to Rose Namajunas in a knockout upset at UFC 217 in New York.

Following an unsuccessful bid to reclaim the belt against Namajunas in 2018, Jędrzejczyk (16-5) eventually moved up to flyweight to challenge Valentina Shevchenko. She lost that fight via unanimous decision. Before Jędrzejczyk's career in MMA, she was one of the most decorated fighters in women's Muay Thai.
