New York, Feb 28 (IANS) People suffering from the common inflammatory condition sinusitis may be at 40 per cent risk of developing a subsequent diagnosis of rheumatic disease, particularly in the five to 10 years preceding the start of symptoms, finds a research. Sinusitis refers to inflammation of the lining of the sinuses, the small, air-filled cavities behind the cheekbones and forehead. Researchers from the Mayo Clinic and the Harvard Medical School in the US showed that a history of sinusitis was associated with a 40 per cent heightened risk of any new diagnosis of rheumatic disease.
