CHP: Ukiah man killed in crash on Highway 20 Monday
A Ukiah man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence following a crash on Highway 20 that killed one of his passengers, the California Highway Patrol reported. According to the CHP, the suspected drunk driver was driving a 2000 Nissan Frontier westbound on Hwy. 20 around 6:20 a.m. Feb. 12 when he steered into oncoming traffic in an attempt to pass other vehicles near Witter Springs Road and collided head-on with a 2011 Toyota Prius, killing the driver of that vehicle. The driver of the Prius, the sole occupant, was identified only as a 59-year-old man from Humboldt County. The rear passenger of the Nissan was also killed in the crash.
