CHAMPION — The world lost some of its sparkle when Shirley A. Kirnec passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 17, 2024, at home. Shirley’s parents, Stephen and Helen Chovan Kirnec, were blessed with the arrival of their daughter on Nov. 25, 1940, in Warren. Shirley was a 1958 graduate of Champion High School. Shortly after high school, she became a “stewardess” in what she called a “cut-throat industry.” No doubt she would make each flight a special experience and look stunning while doing it. In 1966, she began what would become a 56-year-career in the power strut industry. She started at Van Huffel in 1966 and remained there until it closed in 1985. She then spent nine years at We
