Jurassic Park Survival is a game that I have frequently glimpsed in my dreams ever since I was a kid. An interactive experience where instead of letting us build theme parks or murder dinosaurs from the comfort of an arcade cabinet, we are instead thrust into the events of the legendary film with few means to defend ourselves.
Outside of dropping players into a terrifying first-person adventure in which bloodthirsty dinosaurs stalk their every move, the teaser trailer introduces a playable environment set immediately after the events of Steven Spielberg's 1993 blockbuster movie Jurassic Park — with a focus on a key scene from the movie that details what happened to the velociraptor previously locked in a freezer by Lex (Ariana Richards) and Tim (Joseph Mazzello).
Developed by Saber Interactive, the game puts players in the role of Dr. Maya Joshi, “an InGen scientist who was unable to evacuate Isla Nublar” as John Hammond (the late Richard Attenborough) and his island guests had to beat a fast retreat, says the studio. It’s “an original adventure made for fans of the Jurassic Park franchise and those who revel in narrative-driven games” that’ll task players with navigating “an intense mix of first-person stealth and action in thrilling encounters with dinosaurs, each with their own distinct and adaptive behaviors brought to life by John Hammond’s vision.”
The name and footage suggest there are going to be definite survival aspects to the game and not just a pure quest to escape. Survival games are hugely popular and to have one with this license could prove to be a big success.
At this stage, all we have is the trailer which comes complete with alpha footage from the game, alongside the epic soundtrack. It looks great and concludes by telling us that we can expect the game on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. As yet there is zero on the release date front. The footage is alpha so there is something there gameplay wise already, but it may well be the end of 2024 or even later before we can scare ourselves with this one.
