Most King County government offices will be closed to observe Veterans Day. Veterans Day is on November 11. When November 11 falls on a Saturday, the holiday will be observed on the Friday before. When November 11 falls on a Sunday, the holiday will be observed on the Monday after.
In 2023, Veterans Day will be observed on Friday, November 10.
CU Boulder will honor the nation's veterans, including CU Boulder's own student, staff and faculty veterans, with a Veterans Day ceremony at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 10, in the University Memorial Center's Glenn Miller Ballroom.
The Veteran and Military Affairs event will feature keynote speaker Ben Purser, vice president for geostrategic risk at the Institute for Security and Technology. A Joint ROTC Color Guard will present the colors, and the ceremony will be followed by a reception.
In 1947, Colorado Gov. Lee Knous proclaimed the planned University of Colorado student union a memorial to “those who served in these great wars.” And so it was named “University Memorial Center” in tribute to all Colorado veterans. And at the 2013 Veterans Day Ceremony, the UMC was rededicated as Colorado’s official veterans’ memorial.
The second-floor Veterans Lounge was expanded in 2015 and now displays dedication plaques memorializing the Colorado veterans and University of Colorado students who died in WWI, WWII, Vietnam, the conflict in Korea, the Persian/Gulf Wars, the conflict in Iraq and the conflict in Afghanistan. The UMC continues to work with CU's Office of Veteran and Military Affairs to honor the memory of Coloradans involved in conflicts.
All Bombshells Restaurant & Bar locations in Texas will provide free entrees for veterans on Veterans Day, Saturday, Nov. 11, 2023. Other items will be discounted 20%. Families accompanying veterans, and active servicemembers and their accompanying families, will receive a 20% discount on entrees and other items on Veterans Day. Alcoholic beverages are excluded from all Bombshells discount programs. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily for lunch, dinner, and late night. All other days of the year veterans and active service members can receive a 20% discount on all items. Bombshells has North Texas locations in Dallas and in Arlington.
As for those wondering "Is the stock market open on Veterans Day?," the answer to that is no. However, that's not because Veterans Day is a stock market holiday, but rather, it falls on a Saturday in 2023, and the stock market is never open on Saturdays.
