Bhubaneswar: The Hirakud Dam authorities have opened four more sluice gates taking the total number of gates open to 26 to release the flood waters. While 4.4 lakh cusecs of water is entering the Dam, 3.89 lakh cusecs of water is being released downstream. Currently, the water level at Hirakud Dam stands at 627.95 feet. With the opening of the 26 gates, low laying areas of Sambalpur town now face the threat of flooding.
