Beyoncé celebrates her 42nd birthday

It’s easy to put Beyoncé on a pedestal. In the eyes of her millions of fans, she’s been carrying the music industry on her back since her Destiny’s Child debut in 1997. For over 20 years now, the mother of three has been reinventing the idea of what it means to be a pop star, by not only being at the top of her game, but quite literally changing it. She is her only competition.

Beyoncé drops a surprise album? It becomes the most exciting music marketing technique of the 2010s. Beyoncé uses a marching band at Coachella in 2018? Collegiate music becomes a permanent fixture in the pop charts. Beyoncé celebrates all things disco and chrome in her Renaissance era? The high street is full of silver all summer. Time and time again, the world’s favourite multi-hyphenate transcends pop star status and can only be considered, in her own words, an “Alien Superstar”.

For the third and final evening of Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on Monday, Sept. 4, Queen Bey partied it up with more than 70,000 of her closest friends to mark her 42nd birthday.

Fans that got there early in the evening were able to score limited edition “Beyoncé’s B-day Party” T-shirts that were being sold for $55 a pop, but patrons were reporting on X (formerly Twitter) that they were selling fast and the merch lines were extremely long. The BeyHive was buzzing early, too, since outlets like “Extra” reported that music legend Diana Ross would be the one to sing “Happy Birthday to You” to Beyoncé.

After impressive celebrity turnouts for the first two SoFi gigs, Monday’s event coincided with Beyoncé’s 42nd birthday amping up the hype even more with much speculation and excitement at what may happen and possible guest appearances.

Among the stars who joined the teeming thousands of red and black balloon-wielding Beyoncé fans on her big day were Spider-couple Zendaya and Tom Holland, Justin and Hailey Bieber, Chris Rock, Adele, Lizzo, Katy Perry, Kate Hudson, Normani, Brandy, Kim and Khloé Kardashian.

Tina shared a touching snapshot capturing a candid moment of Beyoncé blowing out candles on her cake, surrounded by her beloved children – mini-me Blue Ivy, 11, and the adorable six-year-old twins Rumi and Sir. The image exuded warmth and family joy, capturing the essence of the special occasion.

With a caption that resonated with genuine maternal pride and love, Tina expressed her feelings, saying: "Screaming Happy Birthday to my daughter, my best friend, my confidant. I thank God for choosing me to be the vessel in which you traveled to get to this world. You are such a rare and precious gift to the world, not only as a genius entertainer but also because of your beautiful generous heart, the love you give, the grace you exude, and the wisdom that you possess.
