Goals deep in stoppage time by record signing Declan Rice and Gabriel Jesus earned Arsenal a sensational 3-1 victory over Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
It looked as though both sides would have to settle for a point after United had a late goal disallowed and Arsenal had a penalty overturned, but Rice sent the home fans into delirium as he opened his account with a deflected shot in the 96th minute.
Arsenal haven't lost a match yet, a trend which continued in their latest game on Saturday. They and Fulham played to a 2-2 draw, good for one point each.
Meanwhile, Man United and Nottingham combined for 13 shots on goal on Saturday, which explains the impressive five total goals scored. Manchester United won by a goal and slipped past Nottingham Forest 3-2. The game winning goal came at the 76 minute mark off a penalty kick.
Arsenal came out on top in a nail-biter against Manchester United in their previous matchup back in January, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Gunners repeat their success, or do the Red Devils have a better game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
United, meanwhile, drop to 11th place with two wins and two losses through four games. With a goal differential of minus-two and mounting injuries, mainly across the backline, manager Erik ten Hag has quite the job at hand as the league heads into international break.
Mikel Arteta's side have 10 points along with three other clubsafter four games, two behind leaders Manchester City.
United are in 11th place on six points after already losing twice. "Everything went against us but I thought the performance was alright," United manager Erik ten Hag said, adding that he disagreed with the decision to disallow Garnacho's goal.
The team now has two weeks before our next game – away to Everton – as the players head off to international duty. We sit in fifth place, unbeaten with ten points from four games, and the manager said he expects to see improvements upon the resumption.
“It’s a huge boost you know (to win before the international break). It’s four games. We deserved to win the four games, that’s clear, but to be fair the margins that we have in the later stages of the games are not big enough for what the team is doing.
