A couple have urged parents to be vigilant of the signs of meningitis after their ‘wonderful’ 11-year-old daughter died when medics failed to spot the infection. Annalise Luffingham, from Addiscombe in south London, was admitted to A&E in February 2020 after suffering from a fever, confusion and vomiting — tell-tale signs of the bacterial infection, which can lead to life-threatening sepsis. But NHS medics failed to correctly test whether Annalise, known as Annie, could have sepsis, and took seven hours to give her vital antibiotics, a report into her care found.
