Gun Media and Sumo Nottingham released The Texas Chain Saw Massacre Game

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre asymmetrical survival horror game is cleverly mapped out and atmospheric, but it isn’t scary. That’s too bad, because down to the birdsongs lilting in the game’s terracotta vision of Texas (as developer gun media CEO Wes Keltner told me earlier this summer), Texas is a faithful interpretation of the 1974 movie. It’s an admirable living shrine to one of cinema’s most indelible horror classics, though in dedicating itself so wholly to its source material, Texas loses out on being an engaging game.

It at least tries to distinguish itself in its story, which acts as a sort of prequel to the slasher series.

After months of anticipation, increasingly cool-looking trailers, and awesome gameplay reveals, Gun Interactive's The Texas Chain Saw Massacre game is available to purchase. Why on earth are you reading things on the internet when you could be slashing your nearest and dearest friends to bloody ribbons with Leatherface's (digital) 'saw? What are we doing writing things on the internet when we could be doing the same?

The game recreates the iconic Sawyer homestead, and structures it to allow for intense cat-and-mouse encounters between the family and the survivors.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre‘s PS4 and Xbox One editions don’t have crossplay, meaning that PS4 owners can only play with other PS4 owners, and the same goes for Xbox One owners.

If you’re desperate to play with your friends who own new-gen consoles, you can try downloading Texas Chain Saw Massacre on PC as the system requirements are actually quite reasonable. The game doesn’t require nearly as much as some of the best AAA releases of 2023.

The asymmetrical horror game is based on the iconic 1974 horror film which redefined and revolutionized the genre. The game plays similar to the Friday the 13th game and the popular Dead by Daylight. Victims try to stay alive as they're being hunted by the Slaughter Family including the ever-present and terrifying Leatherface.

As such, with any new game, completionists want to know how quickly they can get all the achievements done in the game.
