Helen Skelton resigned makes her more emotional !

Presenter Helen Skelton has broadcast her final show for BBC Radio 5 Live “for now” to spend more time with her children.

The TV and radio broadcaster has hosted the Sunday morning programme for the past year after taking over the slot from former Love Island host Laura Whitmore.

During the last show, her fellow 5 Live presenter Steve Crossman admitted he was emotional that she was leaving, to which she replied: “I know, I don’t want to but an eight-year-old will be happy about it.”

When later asked how she was feeling, she added: “I’m not all right about it but you know, needs must. The juggle is real. An eight-year-old with a sideline needs me.”

Speaking to her co-host Lloyd Griffith, she said: "You're emotional because I'm leaving." "I am," he replied, before asking how she was feeling. Her voice began to break, as Helen said: "I am not all right about it but, you know, needs must. The juggle is real." Her departure comes just days after she reportedly informed family members she was feeling guilty for stepping back into the dating scene once again. In 2022, Helen confirmed she and England and Leeds Rhinos rugby star Richie Myler decided to go their separate ways.

During her final show, Helen's 5 Live co-star Steve Crossman admitted that he was emotional about her departure, to which she replied: "I know - I don't want to but an eight-year-old will be happy about it."

Asked how she was feeling about leaving the show, she admitted: "I'm not all right about it but you know, needs must. The juggle is real. An eight-year-old with a sideline needs me."

The 46-year-old said: "There were a few tears along the way. But mostly you have a nice hug, then you crack on." He went on: "If anything, it was more about fear because I hate heights and I don't really like horses. But I had to abseil down a 100-metre cave and go on the back of a horse."

Helen’s Radio 5 Live departure comes just days after she reportedly told family members that she felt guilty for stepping back into the dating scene once again, according to Closer Magazine. In April last year, Helen announced that her and England and Leeds Rhinos rugby star Richie Myler, 33, had decided to separate. The couple, who tied the knot in December 2013, share three children together - sons Ernie and Louis and daughter Elsie.
