Kevin De Bruyne left Man City for while because of hamstring injury

Kevin De Bruyne hobbled off after 23 minutes in the opening game of the season on Friday, which Treble-winners City won comfortably 3-0.

The Belgium international lasted 36 minutes of the Champions League final win over Inter Milan in June.

"Kevin De Bruyne  was injured again unfortunately," Guardiola told BBC Match of the Day.

Pep Guardiola confirmed Kevin De Bruyne will be out for “a few weeks” after being forced out of Manchester City’s opening-day win at Burnley.

City launched their defence of the Premier League title by cruising to a 3-0 win at newly-promoted Burnley as Erling Haaland struck twice in the first half before Rodri slammed home a third midway through the second.

Victory over former City captain Vincent Kompany’s Burnley was tainted by De Bruyne’s 23rd-minute withdrawal, with Guardiola revealing his talisman had injured the same hamstring that had kept him out at the end of last season.

City were 1-0 up when De Bruyne left the pitch thanks to Erling Haaland's opener after just four minutes.

The visitors' lead was doubled shortly later as the Norwegian striker slammed home his second against the Clarets.

The injury got in the way of a stop-start but still comfortable-enough first half at Turf Moor, as City ended up winning 3-0 through an Erling Haaland brace. Rodri also scored in the win.

De Bruyne was being eased into the new season after his injury in the Champions League final, as he acknowledged after that game that he had not been 100% for most of the second half of last season. De Bruyne walked around the pitch and to the changing rooms after being subbed off and looked upset.

uben Dias and John Stones both missed out on the trip to Burnley, with Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji starting at centre-back and Josko Gvardiol making his debut off the bench.

Guardiola revealed that Stones had picked up an abductor injury while Dias was recovering from concussion.

“Ruben has a tough concussion and the protocol of the Premier League says you need seven days off and that’s why he’s not here today,” Guardiola explained.
