Rottach-Egern VS. Bayern Munich , preseason match

If ninth-tier side Rottach-Egern thought Bayern Munich would use Tuesday's pre-season match as a chance to gently shake off the rust after a lengthy break they were sadly mistaken, with the ruthless German champions running up a 27-0 victory.

The match was part of Bayern's training camp at Tegernsee before they embark on a tour of Asia, and amateur side Rottach-Egern were all smiles as they posed for the pre-match photo.

The defending German champion beat ninth-tier Rottach-Egern 27-0 on Tuesday as Bayern showed no mercy against the amateur side – perhaps the team doesn’t need Harry Kane after all. The Tottenham Hotspur and England striker has been reportedly linked with a move to the Bundesliga club over the summer.

The score was already 18-0 by half time, but Rottach-Egern managed to limit the damage in the second half to just nine goals.

Jamal Musiala, Mathys Tel and Marcel Sabitzer all scored five goals each, while Serge Gnabry scored a hat-trick.

The 27-goal outing bested their previous game against Rottach-Egern in 2019 when Bayern won 23-0 as the Bavarians continued their preseason training camp in Tagernsee near the Austrian border. The club's sporting director, Hasan Salihamidžić, was famously fired after Bayern clinched an 11th consecutive Bundesliga title on the final day of the season. Bayern were second going into the final round, where they beat Borussia Dortmund to the title thanks to a late goal from Musiala coupled with Dortmund's draw with Mainz.

In South Korea international Kim, who was in attendance for the game on Tuesday, Bayern are adding a towering and versatile defender who helped Napoli to a first Serie A title in three decades.

“FC Bayern is a dream for every footballer,” Kim said. “I’m really looking forward to what’s to come in Munich. It’s a new beginning for me. I’ll continue to develop here.

“In discussions with the club, it was made clear to me from the start how interested they are in me. My first goal is to play a lot of games. In addition, I want to win as many trophies as possible.”

Playing against Rottach-Egern in pre-season has been a tradition for Bayern, who won 23-0 in 2019. Rottach-Egern did manage to score twice in a match in 2018 before going on to lose 20-2.
