Chelsea vs Brighton (4-3):Nicolas Jackson and Christopher Nkunku shine

The Blues will be looking to build on their 5-0 win over Wrexham in their previous pre-season friendly. The youngsters and new signings got some crucial minutes and will be hoping to continue their preparation for the upcoming season.

Brighton ended the previous season with a defeat but managed to finish sixth in the standings. They will be wanting to retain their position heading into the 2023-24 season.

Mauricio Pochettino made it two wins from two as Chelsea manager after a 4-3 win over Brighton in Philadelphia.

Christopher Nkunku, Mykhailo Mudryk, Conor Gallagher and Nicolas Jackson were all on the scoresheet as the Blues made the most of their numerical advantage following a red card to Jan Paul van de Hecke on the hour mark.

Mauricio Pochettino's second game in charge of Chelsea will see his team face fellow Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion. 

The west London outfit come into the game after defeating League Two newboys Wrexham 5-0.

Christopher Nknuku will be eyeing up his first start tonight after coming off the bench and scoring on his debut against the League Two side. 

While Brighton were up to the task in the first half, with the score level at 1-1 at the break thanks to goals from Danny Welbeck and Christopher Nkunku, Chelsea snatched hold of the match after the break and put themselves well in front. It was aided by a red card on the hour mark to Brighton defender Jan Paul van Heck who picked up his second yellow and left the Seagulls a man down for a third of the match.

Once they had the advantage, Chelsea’s deeper squad took charge. Mykhaylo Mudryk put the Blues in front shortly after the van Heck red, while Conor Gallagher and Nico Jackson added two more. Brighton got a pair of late consolation goals from Joao Pedro and Denis Undav, with the former impressing on his debut for the club, but it wasn’t enough. Brighton’s late surge could largely be chalked up to the disjointed nature of friendlies doing much to nullify Chelsea’s man advantage as the substitutions mounted.
