Diaby has been Heavily Linked with Arsenal and Newcastle in the last 12 months amid his great with performances for Bayer Leverkusen. The winger was on top form against last season, notching 14. Diaby is unlikely to join Arsenal this summer after they spent big money on the likes of kai Havertz,Devlan Rice and Jurrien Timber.
Either way, Villa’s bid was knocked back as it did not meet Leverkusen’s €60m (£51.5m) asking price. On Saturday, Football Insider claimed Leverkusen officials were braced for a new offer from Villa, with Unai Emery intent on getting his man.
Al-Nassr, who have Cristiano Ronaldo in their squad, have purchased Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic in recent weeks, yet they have been the least active of the four teams owned by the Public Investment Fund.
Chelsea winger Hakim Ziyech had been on course to sign for Al-Nassr before the transfer was scrapped due to an issue with the Morocco international's medical.
Diaby has now seemingly been identified as the like-for-like alternative, even though he will cost considerably more than Ziyech if a deal goes through.
As it stands, it is unclear whether other clubs will re-enter the race for Diaby, who has two years left on his contract with Leverkusen.
Leverkusen value Diaby at more than £50m but the next few days are likely to be pivotal, with the German club poised to depart for a pre-season training camp in Austria this weekend and all parties keen for the situation to be resolved either way.
FIFA banned the Saudi club recently taken over by PIF (75% stakes). The ban was a result of the club failing to pay debts to Leicester City. FIFA would lift the ban once Al Nassr pays $514,000 debts to the English side for the transfer of Ahmed Musa in 2018. But it hasn’t unfazed the club from making a massive offer for the Bundesliga star.
As per Daily Mail, Al Nassr wants to include a 24-year-old forward in their ranks to strengthen their attack, which already has Cristiano Ronaldo and Anderson Talisca. The former PSG attacker is a signing for the future, and Al-Alami is ready to counter the Villa offer. Meanwhile, Leverkusen seems to take advantage of the season and pocket as much as they could. They currently value the player at $56 million, and Al Nassr has offered around $48 million according to Ben Jacobs. It remains to be seen how things pan out.
