July 6, 2023 (BRUSSELS/KHARTOUM) – The European Union (EU) has “strongly” condemned the ongoing fighting between the rival factions in Sudan as well as the continued refusal of parties to the conflict to seek a peaceful solution. In Wednesday’s statement extended to Sudan Tribune, the EU said that a lasting ceasefire must be brokered without any delay to guarantee the protection of the people of Sudan, whose safety, security and unity continues to be endangered. It further advocated for space for mediation and an inclusive political dialogue.
