A new tax law will impose ten percent of the value of the invoice for customs purposes on certain imported goods  as well as a fee on Egyptian travelers leaving Egypt, the head of the Parliament’s Plan and Budget Committee, Fakhri al-Fiqi, announced. The imported food covered include salmon, shrimp, lobster, blue cheese, caviar, fresh and dried fruits, and roasted coffee. Fiqi said that there is no new tax on durable goods and soft drinks.
