Each year, the Southside Lions Club presents this award to commemorate the memory of Joe Taylor and Shannon Wills, two Gordonsville High School graduates who lost their lives during the Vietnam War. Joe Kenneth Taylor was a 1960 graduate of Gordonsville High School. He died on February 22, 1966, at the age of 24. Roy Shannon Wills was a 1968 graduate of Gordonsville High School.
