On today’s Voice of the People page, two Amtrak executives take exception to our editorial from last week, in which we excoriated the railroad for not even starting the permanent repair of their two Hudson and two East River tubes damaged by Superstorm Sandy a decade ago. For comparison, the MTA fixed their (18!) waterlogged subway tubes years ago, the last two pairs (on the L and F lines) by doing the work nights and weekends to preserve normal rush-hour service. That’s called repair-in-place and it’s a revelation.
